Chanel's Glossimer (& Bargain Alternatives!)

I've been a fan of Chanel Levres Scintillantes Glossimers for years now, and they were actually my first venture into high-end makeup back in high school.  They've always been extremely pricey at $27 a gloss, but I don't have to repurchase these often despite using them daily. I love Glossimers because they're unscented, and come in absolutely gorgeous colors and finishes. I've tried quite a few shades, but these three below are the ones that I'd consider the best purchases.

The bottom color is Glaze, a very sheer rosy color that looks great layered or on it's own. Because it doesn't have any shimmer, you're left with a very glossy, natural look with a really nice texture. Perfect everyday gloss.

The middle Glossimer is Imaginaire, which is probably my favorite of all the colors I've tried. It's sometimes hard to find and I've had SA's dig through their inventory to find this shade for me, but it's worth the extra time. Imaginaire is a universally-flattering sheer raspberry color, and I just love it. It gives you a little pop of color, but in a very understated, natural way. This one has very fine microglitter in it, and luckily it does not affect the texture or consistency. It's just as smooth and non-gritty as Glaze, but has the added prettiness of a slight sheen.

Finally, the top Glossimer is Equinoxe, an excellent top coat to any lip color. I wouldn't wear this one on it's own because the color payoff isn't substantial, but it does add a beautiful golden rose shimmer to whatever you have on. Because this one is so dense with shimmer particles, the consistency isn't as smooth as the others, but the effect is still worth it. Perfect for special events and going out. I haven't found another gloss with that much dimension and shimmer, so this is definitely a winner in that category.

Glossimers are excellent glosses and I'd definitely recommend them. However, if you're on budget, there are other products out there that are comparable.

Revlon Super Lustrous lipgloss is really similar with the consistency of Chanel, and the packaging is even quite similar. They come with SPF 15 (Chanel doesn't), although I prefer Chanel for the specific colors I've fallen in love with. However, Revlon is definitely something you should consider if you can't justify Chanel's prices- they're very reasonable at $6.99.

Clinque's Long Last Glosswear SPF 15 is also another contender for a Chanel alternative. For $14, Clinque's Clearly Pink has nearly the same look and color of Chanel's Glaze, but it has the added protection of SPF 15. It's a little thicker and stickier than Chanel's formula, but that also means it lasts a bit longer throughout the day as well.
